Interesting read. Loved the Trick That Wasn't Vernon's and thought the same thing after I tried it about the one card being left the wrong way round only then to read Revolving Royal Flush which sorts the problem out. Brilliant!
There's another effect using the Henry Christ Force on my blog. Might be worth checking out. And the method there is another way of avoiding the reversed card in the deck. Though there is a price to be paid :-)
