Thanks Robin, and for the new crib for the face-up deal. Your choices make sense. I had a slew of effects based around this premise recently. One, which I like, ended up in Genii but maybe I'll publish it here too because it has a nice prediction element with a hotel key fob. I have one more version that I think it worth publishing but I try not to do a Marlo and publish too many versions of the same trick in one place.

Hi David! I'm slowly working my way backwards through the Archive - what a wonderful collection.

Spycatcher is brilliant - just the kind of story-driven effect that I love, with a powerful magical climax. While working on it, I felt it was a bit inconsistent to start by dealing the columns of cards with the deck held face down, and then do the second and third deals with the packet held face up, and then finish with dealing from the face down deck. So I worked out a revised crib for doing all the dealing of the face up columns with the cards in hand held face down.

|3 or 28 | 1,3,3 | 12 or 37 | 1,3,2 | 21 or 46 | 1,3,1

|4 or 29 | 3,2,3 | 13 or 38 | 3,2,2 | 22 or 47 | 3,2,1

|5 or 30 | 2,2,3 | 14 or 39 | 2,2,2 | 23 or 48 | 2,2,1

|6 or 31 | 1,2,3 | 15 or 40 | 1,2,2 | 24 or 49 | 1,2,1

|7 or 32 | 3,1,3 | 16 or 41 | 3,1,2 | 25 or 50 | 3,1,1

|8 or 33 | 2,1,3 | 17 or 42 | 2,1,2 | 26 or 51 | 2,1,1

|9 or 34 | 1,1,3 | 18 or 43 | 1,1,2 | 27 or 52 | 1,1,1

To my surprise, the only change to your original crib is that on the second gather, all the 1's become 3's and vice versa.

Hi David. I have just subscribed to CARDOPOLIS PLUS. I can't wait to get the newsletters. Does Cardopolis Plus start in 2005? Or from October only? I really love all your newsletters.

Hi Jozsef. Thanks for subscribing. Cardopolis Plus will start in October. As a subscriber you'll get a Cardopolis every month from that date. This will include any free issues that appear. There's a lot of material to look forward to and I'm looking forward to sharing it and getting feedback. Thanks, David.

Thanks Misel. Have always liked the Svengali Deck but the Reverse Svengali does enable you to do some interesting things, like The Bogus Effect which is also in Cardopolis. The deck I use has the cards narrow as well as short. Good for when you want the spectator to cut the deck because it doesn't matter how they cut they will always get to the short/narrow card.
